I offer a complimentary 45-minute consultation upon request. I believe that while a therapist's credentials are important, one of the most important factors in selecting a therapist is finding someone you feel comfortable with and with whom you feel you can have a good working relationship. If you would like to meet me and get more of a sense of whether my style and approach fits for you, let me know if you would like to schedule a consultation.
Program Fees
Sessions are billed at $225 per 90-minute session.
Payment can be made by the method most convenient to you: credit/debit card, check, or cash. (HSA/FSA accounts may not consider couples therapy a valid medical expense. Please contact your FSA/HSA administrator for more information.)
A note about insurance: I do not accept insurance for couples therapy for several reasons. In my experience, modifying couples therapy to fit the structure dictated by insurance leads to slower progress and unintended outcomes. Insurance covers only a 60-minute session (or sometimes only 45-minutes!), which often leads to a frustrating experience of starting to explore concerns but not having enough time to process them or develop resolutions. While the copay may be a smaller amount, the total cost spent on therapy can add up to be comparable to the out-of-pocket costs of the self-pay program, while taking a much longer time to see significant progress. Additionally, insurance requires sessions to be billed under one partner (if couples therapy is a covered benefit at all), and for a mental health diagnosis to be given to this partner. Many clients are uncomfortable with carrying an individual diagnosis when the relationship is the focus of treatment, and this can also contribute to a feeling of one partner being “the problem” in the relationship. The Valued Relationships Couples Therapy Program is designed to address these concerns by focusing on relational patterns rather than focusing on one partner over the other, and providing enough time in sessions to address concerns while enabling therapy to move forward at a more effective pace.
